“we all think we’re carolyn bessette-”
Whilst the girls are busy obsessing over minimalist outfits, ’90s chic, and channeling their “inner Bessette,” Rhode has been busy securing a fresh face for its upcoming campaign.
Sarah Pidgeon, breakout star from FX’s Love Story, features in her first ever beauty campaign, promoting new colours Candy Apple and Teacup in Rhode’s Pocket Blush range.
Why Pidgeon, Rhode?
The series has skyrocketed, and we (I) simply cannot get enough. FX does an excellent job of replicating the nostalgic feeling of the ’90s through the actress who brings back the essence of someone almost everyone wishes they could see again. In their attempt, the girls are cosplaying through their styling, outfits, and looks. The imagery draws the consumer in; it is perfectly “Klein-clean,” mirroring the aesthetic seen throughout the series.
Rhode’s decision to feature Pidgeon feels like the perfect move. If fashion is currently focused on recreating the style associated with Bessette, Rhode offers another avenue through which to emulate the look. While slip dresses, tailored trousers and tortoiseshell headbands replicate the wardrobe of that era, it is beauty that completes the picture.
The Pocket Blush becomes a small, accessible way for consumers to participate in the aesthetic- they're not just dressing like the ’90s, but embracing its effortless, 'clean-girl' beauty. Not only are the blushes practical, they are designed for on-the-go application and they warrant a spot in your bag.
In the race for ’90s effortlessness and authenticity, it seems the girls have found their newest shortcut.
