Galliano is back.

After a 2 year hiatus following his artisanal show for Maison Margiela, John Galliano is back with a 2 year partnership with Zara. A partnership that was born out of an emerging friendship with the chair of Inditex (Zara’s parent company) and is something unlike he has ever done before.

His last show was less than a collection and more so a performance. Set under a Paris bridge at night, with ghostly, doll-like figures and hyper-sculpted silhouettes. A haunting, cinematic experience that I still dream of.

John Galliano, unlike anyone else, has a remarkable ability to blend historical romanticism and theatrical spectacle with his refined technical skills, transforming his runaways into an immersive experience.

What can we expect?

Galliano states that his re-authoring of Zara's archives is “informed by form and proportion [without] falling into any categories. One could safely say it’s beyond gender and beyond seasons.”

Should we expect bold shapes, structures and silhouettes? These pieces will probably blur boundaries and will evade easy classification; not tied to male/female conventions or dictated by seasons.

When asked how he feels about getting back on the merry-go-round, Galliano responded with “They say act three of your life is the most important and can be the most fun”.
