CHANEL just ‘nostalgia-baited’ me.
CHANEL released their campaign celebrating the newest IT girl handbag- the CHANEL 25 mini in what feels like a blast from the past featuring Margot Robbie and Kylie Minogue. You know you have hit the jackpot when it feels less like an advertisement and more like a perfectly executed short film.
Directed by Michel Gondry, producer and Chanel House ambassador, delivers with direct inspiration from Kylie Minogue’s 2001 music video for ‘Come Into My World’. Robbie runs into multiple versions of herself in a Parisian neighbourhood, all whilst wearing a different colourway of the 25’ Mini. Together, this campaign feels like a breath of fresh air, fun and dynamic and a perfect way to mark 25 years since the track was released.
This particular hobo-inspired silhouette is new for CHANEL but has become extremely popular throughout recent years. This shape feels effortless, something that can be thrown on; a bag that you can transition from your everyday to evening seamlessly. It’s for the girls that are constantly running errands, on the go and do so in style. I guess it’s safe to say that CHANEL has done a great job in tapping into this resurgence, whilst still remaining distinctively CHANEL.
One thing you can count on is this fashion house to quietly connect memory, fashion and music together flawlessly.
But what are the streets actually saying about the bag?
Many are surprised about how functional the bag actually is and how it remains organised due to the amount of pockets. Surprisingly it fits an Iphone pro max. I mean, Thank God right? For the price? Yeah I would hope so. I also wouldn’t want to be in any discomfort of any sort, for example, digging into my shoulder, which some are saying is happening to them.
Sorry to the girls for thinking otherwise.
Would I personally purchase this bag? The long and short answer is no. I absolutely believe that buying into the brand is an investment (one I will be making in the next 5 years) but I don’t think I would invest into this model.
If you were wondering what my preference was, I would so obviously invest in a classic flap. A medium/jumbo flap with lambskin leather to be exact.
